José Mauricio Lorca


Mauricio Lorca was born in Rivadavia, Mendoza, one of the principal areas of wine production in Argentina and South America.

He first intended to go into medicine but later decided to pursue a career as a winemaker. He is a graduate of the Facultad Don Bosco, the most prestigious school in Argentina for winemakers. In the course of his studies, he started working at Bodegas Esmeralda and then at Bodega Michel Torino in Cafayate, Salta, where he concentrated on Torrontes, the emblematic white grape of Argentina. He then returned to Mendoza where he became chief winemaker of Bodega Luigi Bosca.

Four years later, he accepted a new challenge at Finca La Celia where he won important prizes for his wines.

In 2002, Mauricio became the Winemaker and Manager of Bodega Enrique Foster while simultaneously developing his own line under the label of Bodega Mauricio Lorca. Today both Foster and Lorca enjoy a strong presence in domestic and international markets.

Mauricio is a pioneer in the production of unoaked premium wines. His philosophy is based in ensuring that modern vineyard management is used and seeks to bottle exactly what nature provides.

His wines are available in Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dubai, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Poland, Rumania, Switzerland, Taiwan, Uruguay, United Kingdom, and the United States.

In addition to his passion for wine, Mauricio enjoys skiing, training, bicycle racing and spending time with his family and friends.
